A bit of cross training, always a good thing...or is it?

I'm not one to argue that adding some cross training to your marathon plan is a good thing especially if you're looking to relieve the impact on your calves and strengthen your quads. Cycling is the trick and I'm not short of bikes, so a trip out on my time trial bike in sunny but cold conditions seemed like a good plan.

Dressed to maintain maximum comfort in the cold was achieved, but what can you do to deal with the windy conditions?

Oh my god, what an experience! I haven't been out on my bike since September so a distance of 10 miles seemed to be a good starting riding at an average pace of 15mph. Good plan but I have never been so scared, I started the ride and thought I was going to be blown off my bike, a fear that was escalated more when traffic passed me. In the wind no one hears you scream which was a relief cause I spent most of the ride doing just that. Between 2 and 6 miles the route was less open so more of a pleasure but the final 2 miles home....HELP!

I'll not rule cycling out but next time be a bit more wary of the conditions and not let the sunshine fool me into thinking what a pleasent day for a ride.
