Say hello to 2012 where the serious MK marathon training commences.

It's 2012, I've welcomed the New Year in and now I must focus on the prize, a sub 4 hour MK marathon! Following a worrying New Years Eve Park Run where I was nursing a tight calf muscle I have now moved on to completing my first long run of the year, 13.1 miles along the red routes of Milton Keynes taking in two of the MK lakes, Willen and Caldecote.

My training will be based around 3 runs a week consisting of a long steady run, a session specific run (ie. intervals, fartlek, hills) and a mid distance tempo run. I will look to mix with the running a strength session (there is some definite work to be done on my core) some stretching and the odd cross training session (the weather has been fairly mild for the time of year so my bike may come out of hibernation).

As before I'll look to make my blog as amusing as possible and hope you'll enjoy reading of my progress.
