Road to recovery...4 weeks of lost mileage!

...and so the good news is that the calf problem appears to be on the road to recovery. It's very hard to stay motivated when you're not able to do the mileage you targeted and your training plan starts to slip.

As a result of deep tissue sports massage from Helen Stephens (this lady is great) and examination into what could potentially be causing the problem (which turned out to be the constant use of my steel toe cap boots worn for work) I've now managed a 45 minute treadmill run and a 5.5 mile run on the road.....yippee!

No calf issues, although having not run for so long I'm feeling the effects of the 5.5 mile run this morning. The ongoing advice is to add a stretching programme to my plan, use a golf ball to massage the pressure points by rolling it under my foot and keep up the vibro sessions.

Advice taken and set to be followed, so much so I'm confident enough to enter the MK Festival of Running Half Marathon on 4th March 2012.

Good to hear that problem is solved and you can now move forward and focus on the marathon training.
