Welcome 2013...so what is in store for the year?

We say hello to 2013 and having reviewed my activities for 2012 I note that my set goals were not achieved be it not for trying. The MK marathon saw me put in a major effort just to turn up and run in poor weather conditions, the final result no sub 4 hour achieved. The Colworth Marathon challenge gave me a second opportunity to achieve a sub 4 hour performance for the full event but alas yet again it was not to be losing time on the 8 mile cross country run in wet and muddy conditions. Finally to achieve my 50 run Park Run status, so close but not quite finishing the year on 47 runs. I did manage to achieve a sub 23 minute 5k of 22:21 at the Northampton Park Run and registering a new PB. All in all 2012 has found me running in wet, windy and cold conditions leaving me to wonder if I was ever going to compete in an event where the sun shone and conditions underfoot were ideal.

My targets this year (at present) is still to achieve that elusive sub 4 hour marathon, my MK marathon place booked (6th May 2013) although if I'm lucky enough to win a place in the London Marathon via the Park Run competition draw, this will be the event. I'm also looking to have done my 50 Park Runs by the end of February, a certain tick in the box for the year. I'd also like to lose weight as since my Mens Health Challenge days the weight has crept back up, I'm fitter but the body shape doesn't really reflect this very well. This goal I will set later as at present I'm just concentrating on improving my eating habits, Christmas can no longer be my excuse.

Finally it's back to writing, I'm going to try and keep my blog more active. I've found that having to think about what I'm going to write has always been a motivator so here starts the motivation.

Enjoy the story...back soon!
